چکیده

We report low-temperature transport experiments on single-wall nanotubes with metallic leads of varying contact quality, ranging from weak tunneling to almost perfect transmission. In the weak tunneling regime, where Coulomb blockade dominates, the nanotubes act as onedimensional quantum dots. For stronger coupling to the leads the conductance can be strongly enhanced by inelastic cotunneling and the Kondo effect. For open contacts Coulomb blockade is completely suppressed, and the low-temperature conductance remains generally high, although we often see distinct dips in the conductance versus gate voltage which may result from resonant backscattering.

Transport and strong-correlation phenomena in carbon nanotube quantum dots in a magnetic field.

Transport through carbon nanotube (CNT) quantum dots (QDs) in a magnetic field is discussed. The evolution of the system from the ultraviolet to the infrared is analyzed; the strongly correlated (SC) states arising in the infrared are investigated. Experimental consequences of the physics are presented-the SC states arising at various fillings are shown to be drastically different, with distinc...

Local gate control of a carbon nanotube double quantum dot.

We have measured carbon nanotube quantum dots with multiple electrostatic gates and used the resulting enhanced control to investigate a nanotube double quantum dot. Transport measurements reveal honeycomb charge stability diagrams as a function of two nearly independent gate voltages. The device can be tuned from weak to strong interdot tunnel-coupling regimes, and the transparency of the lead...

Quantum current modeling in nano-transistors with a quantum dot

Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) serve as a new class of ‘zero dimensional’ nanomaterial’s in thecarbon class with sizes below 10 nm. As light emitting nanocrystals, QDs are assembled from semiconductormaterials, from the elements in the periodic groups of II-VI, III-V or IV-VI, mainly thanks to impacts of quantum confinement QDs have unique optical properties such as brighter, highly pho...

Phonon runaway in carbon nanotube quantum dots" (2008). Other Nanotechnology Publications. Paper 93. We explore electronic transport in a nanotube quantum dot strongly coupled with vibrations and weakly with leads and the thermal environment. We show that the recent observation of anomalous conductance signatures in single-walled carbon nanotube quantum dots ͓B. can be understood quantitatively ...

Quantum theory of the plasmon enhanced Raman scattering effect in hybrid nanotube systems

The quantum theory of resonance Raman scattering is developed for a dipole emitter, the two-level system (TLS), coupled to an interband plasmon resonance of a carbon nanotube (CN) [1]. The model used belongs to a broad class of driven four-level quantum systems [2], with an important distinction that instead of being driven by an external periodic field, scattering by the interacting TLS-CN sys...
